Since 2020, the Lagos Civil Society Participation for Development (LACSOP), has been rolling out a new development model for our members’ progression. We have been executing our current Strategic Plan (2020-2025) where it defined a model to take care of the development of our members. In 2024, we have observed some trends that demand that we continue to guide the evolution of our members. There is an increasing demand for the regulation of civil society for a few reasons: First, that CSOs are expected to hold themselves to the same standards of transparency and accountability as the government. Secondly, the heightening of terrorist activities in the country and different parts of the world has drawn attention to the fact that wide funding variations available can make CSOs vulnerable to terrorist’s funding. The upside to this new terrain, is that civil society now has the opportunity to grow in its legitimacy, influence and consequently impact voice for change.
